Ingredients

  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter (optional)
  • Seasonings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Test the oil by adding a few popcorn kernels and covering it.
  3. Add the remaining popcorn kernels once the test kernels pop.
  4. Pop by covering the pot and gently shaking it to ensure even heating.
  5. Monitor the popping sounds; when they slow down to about 2 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
  6. Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl.
  7. Add melted butter if desired and toss.
  8. Season with salt and additional seasonings as preferred, then toss again.
  9. Serve and enjoy while fresh!

Notes

Use a heavy pot for even heat distribution. Keep the lid slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.
