Crispy tofu combined with a creamy, zesty bang bang sauce for a delightful and easy meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 14–16 oz block extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1–2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ tablespoons sweet Thai chili sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Sriracha
  • ½ teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Cooked jasmine or white rice (for serving)
  • Shredded purple cabbage (for serving)
  • Julienned carrots (for serving)
  • Sliced cucumber (for serving)
  • Avocado (for serving)
  • Edamame (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prep the tofu by pressing it to remove excess moisture, then cut into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Season the tofu with soy sauce, olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, tossing to coat.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and arrange the tofu in a single layer. Air fry for about 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  4. Alternatively, pan-fry the tofu in a skillet with oil over medium heat for 8–12 minutes until crispy.
  5. Make the sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, sweet Thai chili sauce, Sriracha, and rice vinegar in a small bowl.
  6. Combine the cooked tofu with half of the bang bang sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Assemble the bowls with rice, sauced tofu, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, and any additional toppings. Drizzle with remaining sauce.

Notes

Press tofu well and avoid overcrowding the air fryer for crispy results. Customize spice levels to taste.
