A delightfully spooky treat with rich red velvet and creamy almond frosting, perfect for Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup almond butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Red gel food coloring (for blood effect)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. Whisk until evenly distributed.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined and smooth.
  5. Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely in the pans.
  6. Prepare the Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat together almond butter and cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
  7. Frost the Cake: Once cooled, place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of frosting on top, then add the second layer. Frost the entire cake evenly.
  8. Create the Blood Effect: Use red gel food coloring to create a ‘bloody’ effect on the knife and around the cake for an eerie finish.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve your spooky delight at your Halloween gathering!

Notes

Ensure your ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Avoid over-mixing the batter to maintain fluffiness.
