Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk (for frosting)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Food coloring (optional for decoration)
Ghost-shaped candies or marshmallows (for decoration)
Colorful sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, whisking together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy in another large bowl using an electric mixer.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the frosting by beating the softened butter until creamy, gradually adding powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy. Add food coloring if desired.
Assemble the cake by placing the first layer on a serving platter, spreading frosting on top, and placing the second layer over it. Frost the entire cake smoothly.
Decorate with ghost candies or marshmallows on top and colorful sprinkles around them.
Notes
Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for better mixing. Chill frosting if it becomes too soft during decorating.
